Tour description
Horses have been a matter of pride and dignity for the Azerbaijanis for centuries. Azerbaijani epic literature represents a number of legendary horses, such as Girat of national hero Koroghlu or Bozat of another hero, Gachag Nabi, which throughout history came to the rescue of their masters, keeping them away from danger.
Azerbaijan has long had favorable geographical and climatic conditions for animal breeding and equestrian development. The first presence of horses in this region dates back to 5,000 B.C.E. Later historical findings belong to the epoch of the ancient Azerbaijan states, such as Mannea, Media and Atropatene.
Bina Equestrian center
Bina Equestrian Center in Baku, provides facilities for horse riding and polo playing. Situated near the race course and jockey club just next to the airport, this center provides a venue for horse riding events. The facility includes a polo arena and modern polo facilities with high-definition lighting systems. The Grass Arena Polo World Cup Azerbaijan has been held in these facilities.
Baku Shooting Centre
Baku Shooting Centre started functioning on March 9, 2015. This center is one of the largest shooting complexes in Europe and it is located in Bilajari settlement of Baku. The area of the functional zones of the center is more than 123,000 square meters. The building includes various functional areas, a cafe, a VIP waiting and recreation, management, training, doping control, weapons storage, 55-seat 2 conference and media rooms, a medical center, and a fitness hall. Shooting competitions at the distances of 10, 25, 50 and 300 meters can be held in the center. The firing line allowing 80 athletes to compete simultaneously was constructed in ten-meter indoor shooting range.
5 shooting grounds for trap shooting were constructed in the building. 75 target throwing machines for trench shooting were installed in these grounds. There are 10 target-throwing machines in 5 towers constructed for circular shooting actions. The center has a hotel building consisting of four floors and a terrace.
