1. Mardakan Castle – Erected in the middle of the 12th century, the castle provided a vital role as a safe shelter and observation point of feudals.

2. Ramana Tower – Ramana Tower is situated in Ramana village of Baku. The yard and wall of this historical monument are long-rectangular, which makes it different from any other ancient construction located nearby. The magnificent building was included into the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in Need of Urgent Safeguarding within the Caspian Shore Defensive Constructions on October 24, 2001.

3. Gelersen-Gorersen Fortress – Located at the top of Mount Garatapa, the fortress was built in the 8th or 9th century for defense purposes. The translation of its name means “will come – will see”, which is associated with a quite interesting history that makes the place worth seeing.

4. Gulistan Fortress – The fortress of Gulistan is one of the popular places to visit in Shamakhi and it was built in the 8th-9th century to protect inhabitants of Shirvanshah from foreign invasions. 

5. Alinjagala (Alanjik) fortress – The fortress is located in Nakhchivan on the slope of Alinja Mountain. Throughout history, Alinjagala has served various purposes including the residence of the ruler of  Nakhchivan and the place for the state treasury. The fortress also is a perfect destination to observe the beauty of nature.
