1. Synyk-Kala Mosque – The mosque, located in Baku was constructed in the 11th century. Before the 18th century, the mosque named “Muhammed Mosque” in honor of Muhammed Ibn Abu Bakr, the architect of this historical and the most ancient mosque of Azerbaijan. The Synyk-Kala meaning, “Destroyed Fortress” got its name after 1723 during the campaign of Russian Tsar Peter I to the Caspian region.
2. Juma Mosque of Shamakhi – Built in 743-744, in honor of Muslim Ibn Valiahd’s arrival in Azerbaijan, the mosque is believed to be the place where Khazar’s ruler accepted Islam. Although the monument experienced several tragic events such as an earthquake and mass killing of Azerbaijanis by Armenian forces, it has been repaired with close attention and care to maintain traditional values.

4. Shah Abbas Mosque– The mosque was built in 1606 based on the instructions of Shah Abbas, one of the most well-known figures of Azerbaijan history. It carries out the tradition of medieval Azerbaijani architecture for its common composition, planning, construction, and artistic-decorative characteristics.
5. Tuba-Shakhi Mosque – Located in the town of Mardakan, the mosque was built on Azerbaijani lands in the 15th century by the order of Tuba Shahin and its architectural importance has been preserved until the present day.
