Sheki joined UNESCO

During the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, the Sheki Historical Center was included on the World Heritage List along with the Khan Palace.

Sheki has always attracted local and foreign tourists with its nature, beauty and sights. Khan's Palace was built without a single nail. The building is located in the north-eastern part of the city surrounded by walls. The palace itself was built in the XVIII century. The area of ​​the two-story building is 300 square meters. The palace consists of six rooms, four corridors and two mirror balconies. The palace building is considered an excellent example of the palace architecture of the Caucasus of the XVIII century. The palace covers an area of ​​120 hectares together with the historical center of Sheki.

In addition, UNESCO’s World Heritage List already includes Icherisheher, Maiden’s Tower, Shirvanshah Palace Complex, Gobustan Cultural Landscape with Rock Art, as well as 13 samples of intangible cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people.
