This international project was initiated by production company Premier Art Management, is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and has already gained many fans among Baku's music lovers.
Concerts will take place at the International Mugham Centre, the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall and several city squares. In the event, musicians from Israel, Russia, France, Georgia and Switzerland will join Azerbaijani jazz masters. Besides solo concerts by honored foreign guests, the program includes collaborative performances with our outstanding jazz musicians, once again seeking to highlight that music has no limits – musicians from diverse countries can understand each other through the language of music.
The festival will open on 10 June with world-famous trumpet player Erik Truffaz, performing on with his quartet. Erik Truffaz is one of the world’s most creative jazz musicians. He has been performing on stage since the age of 8 and music lovers are certain to recognize his style - the distinctive smooth sound of the trumpet and his surprising improvisations.
On 12 June Israeli jazz virtuoso, Adam Ben Ezra will perform with his trio. Adam Ben Ezra is a phenomenal double bass player, multi-instrumentalist and YouTube sensation, inspired by the likes of Bach, Sting, Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea. His music contains elements of Jazz, Latin and Mediterranean music.
The festival will continue with Georgian Ethno jazz band IRIAO, which represented Georgia at the Eurovision international song contest last year. IRIAO’s entire repertoire is based on Georgian folk and saturated with jazz elements, and the band has performed at major music festivals around the globe like Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia, Borneo Jazz Festival in Malaysia, and many others in Austria, Poland and the Baltics.
The young but very French talented jazz-musician, guitar virtuoso and composer Tom Ibarra will also take to the stage with his quintet. Stars like Miles Davis, Pat Metheny and Weather Report played a huge role in Ibarra’s making as a musician. His debut album was released in 2015 and he won the international jazz competition Letter One Rising Stars Jazz Award in 2017.
